‏Jordan records 26 deaths and 903 new Covid-19 infections

A total of 26 new deaths and 903 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was recorded in Jordan on Saturday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 296,668 and 3,877 respectively, since the outbreak began in March, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.

Irbid saw 351 new infections followed by Amman 300, Balqa 84, Ajloun 32, Jerash 29, Karak 27, Zarqa 27, Madaba 22, Mafraq 20, Aqaba 10 and one case in Ma’an.

The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 80, while 53 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Saturday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 2,152, bringing the total to 273,986 since the outbreak began.

Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 686, including 119 on ventilators.

Also, the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 239, or 25 percent of the total ICU bed capacity.

With regard to testing, 14,498 tests were conducted Saturday, 6.2 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March has increased to 3,211,366.
