Senate President Faisal Fayez said Tuesday that the Upper House will cooperate on legislation to enhance the role of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC).
In comments during a meeting with IACC President Mohannad Hijazi and members, who handed him a copy of the commission's annual report, Fayez commended the agency's role in fighting financial and administrative corruption and promoting the values of integrity and justice.
He pledged a thorough review of the report by the Senate's relevant committees, reiterating support for the commission and to work to "remove legislative barriers, if any, that hinder its mandate."
Hijazi briefed the Senate head on the IACC's key tasks, stressing cooperation with the chamber "in a manner to serve the country and citizens and enable the commission to carry out its role."
He gave an account of the anti-graft body's achievements in 2019 an the complaints it addressed during that year.
