A total of 23 new deaths and 1,645 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was recorded in Jordan on Tuesday.
With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 291,393 and 3,801 respectively, since the outbreak began in March, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.
Amman saw 595 new infections followed by Irbid 398, Mafraq 151, Zarqa 109, Karak 79, Balqa 78, Ajloun 73, Madaba 43, Aqaba 42, Jerash 37, Tafileh 22, and 18 cases in Ma’an.
The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 91, while 97 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Tuesday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 2,561, bringing the total to 266,622 since the outbreak began.
Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 774, including 109 on ventilators.
Also, the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 2572, or 26 percent of the total ICU bed capacity.
With regard to testing, 21,735 tests were conducted Tuesday, 7.5 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March has increased to 3,126,192.
