Ammon News - Member of the Epidemiology Committee, Dr Bassam Hajawi said that coronavirus family is a mutated virus that contains many mutations to survive.

The virus has many mutations with little changes, indicating that the virus has new strain after discovering changes in the amino acids, he said.

The new strain has little effect and it will not lead to pathological complications but it spreads 70% faster than the old strain and it is not recognized as new disease, he added.

In Jordan, the genetic chain is tested to ensure that the new strain does not exist, indicating that Jordan is capable of dealing with the new strain if it is found, he stated.

The vaccine will reach Jordan at the begging of February, stating that vaccines are scarce in all over the world and Jordan waits it eagerly. The vaccine is 90% effective and capable of producing antibodies. The vaccine will be given to whoever wants it after the registration through the link specified for this purpose, he added.
