‏Jordan records 18 deaths and 1050 new Covid-19 infections

 The Ministry of Health said Saturday it recorded 18 coronavirus deaths and 1,050 cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll to 3,729 and the total number of infections to 286,356.

The new cases were: 372 in Amman, 344 in Irbid, including 12 in Ramtha district, 82 in Balqa, 63 in Mafraq, 63 in Aqaba, 48 in Ajloun, 27 in Madaba, 21 in Zarqa, 20 in Karak, 5 in Jerash, 3 in Tafileh and 2 in Ma'an, according to the daily brief by the Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that the number of active cases topped 23,976, while 85 were admitted to hospitals today and 49 were discharged after recovering.

The report said that the total number of confirmed cases currently hospitalized was 932, noting that the number of isolation beds used in hospitals for confirmed and suspected cases yesterday totaled 743, at an occupancy rate of 17%.

It said that 135 ventilators were in use in hospitals for confirmed and suspected cases yesterday, at an occupancy rate of 16%.

The report also said that 2,339 COVID-19 patients in home isolation and in hospitals recovered today, bringing the recovery tally to 258,651.

Further, it said that 11,123 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of examinations since the outbreak to 3,068,292 with a positivity rate of 9.44 per cent for the day.

The Ministry called for adherence to defence orders and to follow prevention measures, especially wearing masks and avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, and adhere to the awareness campaign launched by the ministry to prevent infection.
