Jordan records 30 COVID deaths, 1,616 infections on Friday

 A total of 30 new deaths and 1,616 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan on Friday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 285,306 and 3,711 respectively, since the outbreak began in March, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.

Irbid saw 627 new infections followed by Amman (477), Mafraq (146), Zarqa (138), Jerash (75), Balqa (41), Karak (33), Tafileh (29), Ma’an (23), Madaba (17), Ajloun (6) and 4 cases in Aqaba.

The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 102, while 100 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

According to the brief, the number of recoveries recorded Friday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 1,816, bringing the total to 256,312 since the outbreak began.

Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 915, including 139 or 16 percent on ventilators.

Also, the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 282, or 31 percent of the total ICU bed capacity.

With regard to testing, 16,827 tests were conducted Friday, 9.6 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March has increased to 3,057,169.
