Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh received Wednesday a copy of the 2019 Human Rights Report in the Kingdom issued by the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR).
NCHR Chairman of the Board of Trustees Irhail Gharaibeh handed the report to the premier during a meeting at the Prime Ministry.
Khasawneh stressed the government's commitment to the Royal directives to strengthen and consolidate human rights and fundamental freedoms in the Kingdom and build on the achievements Jordan has made in this field.
The prime minister also emphasized that the government is looking "with great interest" to this report, which, he said, is issued by an independent and impartial national watchdog, pledging that his cabinet will amend any procedures or legislation that would enhance the human rights situation in the Kingdom.
The prime minister indicated that he had ordered ministries and government institutions to strengthen their cooperation with the NCHR and speed up their response to the recommendations and observations set forth in the report, in accordance with the provisions of the law.
In turn, Gharaibeh outlined the main themes of the report and highlighted the center's management of and response to requests and complaints submitted to it.
