22-12-2020 12:05 AM

Ammon News -

Prime Minister, Bisher Khaswaneh, launched Monday the Jordan Anti-Corruption Commission (JACC) Plan 2020 - 2025 that aims at keeping the Commission abreast of regional and international developments.

In a virtual meeting with state representatives and NGOs, marking the International Anti-Corruption Day, Khasawneh stressed the importance of combating graft, noting that Jordan has for many years been aware of the danger of corruption, prompting it to establish the Audit Bureau in 1952.

He said that Jordan has contributed in the early 2000s to drafting the provisions of the Convention against Corruption. In response to the Convention, Khasawneh said, and under Royal directives, the JACC was established in 2006 to uncover the hotbeds of all kinds of corruption, underscoring the keenness of successive governments in supporting the Commission.

Competent authorities are working on aligning the existent national regulations with the provisions of the Convention against Corruption, Khasawneh added.

In turn, Chairman of the JACC, Muhannad Hijazi, said: "We in the Commission draw strength and resolve from the absolute and continued support that we see in the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and for the governments and all state apparatuses," emphasizing that combating all forms of corruption is a priority for all the state's authorities.
