36 new COVID-19 deaths, 2,499 cases and 3,062 recoveries recorded

Some 36 fatalities and 2,499 cases of the coronavirus were recorded in the Kingdom Monday, bringing the death toll to 3,604 and the total number of cases to 277,448, according to the Health Ministry.

The new infections were: 940 in Amman, 615 in Irbid Governorate, including 23 in the district of Ramtha, 213 in Zarqa, 157 in Jerash, 138 in Balqa, 112 in Mafraq, 92 in Karak, 80 in Ajloun, 48 in Madaba, 46 in Aqaba, 41 in Tafileh and 17 in Ma'an, including 7 in Petra, according to the daily brief by the ministry and the Prime Ministry.

The report said that the number of active cases reached 27,676, while 145 were admitted today to hospitals and 151 patients were discharged after recovery.

It said that the total confirmed cases being hospitalized were 1,054, while the total number of isolation beds used for confirmed and suspected cases yesterday was 870, at an occupancy rate of 20 per cent. It said a total of 313 ventilators were in use in hospitals yesterday, at a rate of 19 per cent.

It also said that 3,062 COVID-19 patients recovered today in home isolation and hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 246,168.

Further, it said that 20,215 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number conducted since the outbreak to 2,983,088, adding that the positivity rate today was about 12.36 per cent.

The Ministry urged the public to adhere to defense orders and follow prevention regulations, including wearing masks, avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people and keeping updated on an awareness campaign launched by the ministry to curb infections.
