Ammon News - Director of National Center for Epidemics and Communicable Disease Control, Dr Firas Al-Hawari, said that the new COVID-19 variant is regarded as genetic mutations.


Changes in genetic mutations started in United Kingdom in September and it may be the cause of the current COVID-19 waive in United Kingdom, indicating that 60% of infections caused by the new COVID-19 variant, he said.


Genetic mutations make the development of vaccines difficult as genetic mutations occur in several countries, indicating that the most important genetic mutation is the virus infection between animals and humans, he added.
