The Ministry of Health announced 23 fatalities and 2,152 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 3,568 and the caseload to 274,949.
The new infections comprised 762 cases in the capital Amman, 614 in Irbid, including 62 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 144 in Balqa, 125 in Zarqa, 82 in Ajloun, 75 in Mafraq, 74 in Jerash, 73 in Aqaba, 58 in Karak, 54 in Tafila, 48 in Madaba, and 43 in Ma'an, including 3 in southern district of Petra, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The statement indicated that Jordan's active cases currently stand at 28,257, while the number of patients who have been admitted on Sunday to hospitals has reached 102 cases, as 129 patients were discharged.
A total of 1,037 Covid-19 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals , while the total number of isolation beds used in hospitals for confirmed and susceptible cases on Saturday has reached 954, with an occupancy rate of 22%, the statement pointed out.
Meanwhile, the total number of ICU beds used in hospitals for confirmed and susceptible cases reached 954 on Saturday, 323, with an occupancy rate of 35%, the government pointed out.
The total number of lung ventilators used in hospitals for confirmed and susceptible cases on Saturday stood at 142, with an occupancy rate of 17%, according to the statement.
The statement also indicated that 3,980 patients have recovered on Sunday in home isolation and hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 243,106.
Moreover, 18,536 lab Covid-19 tests were conducted on Sunday, bringing the cumulative total number of tests administered since the start of the pandemic until now to 2962873, with the share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, standing at 11.61 per cent, the statement added.
The Ministry of Health has renewed its call on the public to abide by defence orders, as well as to adhere to precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks and avoiding holding gatherings that exceed 20 people, according to the statement.
The ministry also called on the public to follow its "I Protect Them" awareness campaign, which aims to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through increasing public commitment to preventive measures to protect individuals and their beloved ones.
