Ammon News - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, briefed the EU official on the economic situation in the Kingdom, and government's actions to deal with impacts of the pandemic on various sectors, including government priorities for the next stage in priority sectors.

Shraideh underlined the importance of the assistance of the EU as a development partner to Jordan, as it contributes to supporting the implementation of reforms, programs and projects in vital sectors, as well as enabling Jordan to deal with implications and challenges in the current stage, including hosting Syrian refugees and meeting host communities' needs.

For her part, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Maha Ali, highlighted ways to develop trade exchange between Jordan and EU countries and investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

Ali spoke about Jordan's geographical location that turns it into a regional hub for business, as well as actions taken to face economic repercussions of the pandemic, with the aim of achieving the sustainability of vital sectors and facilities and achieving economic recovery.

The EU Commissioner said the EU sees Jordan as a key partner and underlined the bloc's support to the Kingdom to deal with economic challenges, expressing appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role in maintaining security and stability in the region, as well as its humanitarian role in serving refugees.
