The Public Security Department (PSD) said Wednesday that a man, arrested a few days on narcotics charges, died yesterday at hospital from an acute pulmonary embolism.
A PSD spokesman explained that antinarcotics agents raided on December 12th the hideout of two men in the Northern Ghour after being tipped off that they had drugs in their possession.
Shortly after the police force arrived, the two men tried to evade arrest but one of them fell and broke his leg before being rushed to a nearby hospital, the spokesman added.
The man arrived at hospital with a fractured leg, the spokesman indicated, adding that the man remained in hospital until his death yesterday which doctors said it was caused by embolus (a blockage of a lung artery).
The spokesman affirmed that the man remained in hospital and was never discharged or interrogated in a police station, noting that a post-mortem confirmed that the death was a result of an acute pulmonary embolism.
Furthermore, the spokesman said there is footage, which will be sent to the public prosecutor, that confirms that the man was brought to hospital with leg pain only.
