A tangible drop in temperatures is expected on Tuesday, as a cold air mass accompanying a depression from Cyprus is forecast to cross the Kingdom while we go into the night, bringing cold, cloudy weather with rain in the northern highlands.
According to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), downpours are expected to intensify and cover much of the country with heavy showers in some regions, making flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, while winds will be southwesterly moderate to active, stirring dust and causing low horizontal visibility in the Badia.
The depression is expected to deepen on Wednesday, pushing mercury levels down and bringing cold conditions with spotty showers that may turn heavy with thunder and hail, mainly in the western parts of the country, causing a rise in water levels and flash floods in sloped or lowlands, the department predicted.
The Kingdom will remain under the impact of the cold and wet front, the JMD said, noting that rainfall will taper off in the evening as clouds will gradually decrease with a possibility of fog formation at night over highlands and the Badia regions.
Today, mercury in Amman hovers around 16 Celsius degrees, dropping to 9C during night hours, while the Gulf of Aqaba will see a relatively hot 25C, sliding into 13C during nighttime.
