The Foreign Ministry on Monday evening condemned the attack on an oil tanker in the Saudi port of Jeddah by a booby-trapped boat rigged with explosives, causing a small fire on the ship.

"The Kingdom expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of this cowardly terrorist act, targeting vital installations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and threatening the freedom of maritime navigation and the security and stability of the region," the Ministry's spokesperson Ambassador Deifallah Fayez said in a statement.

Fayez expressed the Kingdom's support and solidarity with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people, as well as supporting all actions it takes to preserve its security and stability.
