Ammon News - President of the Amman chambers of industry and commerce Fathi Jaghbeer Monday welcomed the government's decision to cut the sales tax levied on the production inputs of some foodstuffs.
In a statement, Jaghbeer also commended the government's move to study "the distortions" in the tax on industrial production inputs, saying it is the "fruit" of a real public-private partnership.
He stressed that such decisions help support national products and enable the national industry to be competitive in the region.
Yesterday, the cabinet reduced the sales tax levied on oils processing and production inputs to 4 per cent, 2 per cent for canned vegetables and fruits and 5 per cent for a limited number of dairy products.
Additionally, the cabinet cut the tax on bags used to pack dates to 2 per cent and 4 per cent for the cardboard used on table eggs packaging.
The production inputs include bottles, plastic and metal containers, cardboard boxes, in addition to the cardboard and printed paper used for packing and packaging.
