Minister of Labor and State Minister for Investment Affairs Maen Qatamin Sunday met with the Egyptian Ambassador Sherif Kamel and the Korean Ambassador Lee Jae-wan.
The meeting with the Egyptian ambassador discussed a number of issues relating to Egyptian workers in the Kingdom and measures taken by the government to address the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, especially those relating to the labor force.
Qatamin underlined that the 'distinguished' historical relations between Jordan and Egypt will remain a significant guarantee and a solid foundation that preserves the interests of the two countries and peoples in various circumstances.
He noted that the ministry is committed to keeping communication channels open to overcome any obstacles that may face Egyptian workers in Jordan in accordance with the law.
During the meeting, the ambassador commended the ongoing bilateral cooperation and coordination on the various demands of the Egyptian workers in Jordan, in line with the directives of the two countries' leaders to strengthen and boost cooperation in various fields.
He pointed out that the Egyptian workers, who are committed to the Kingdom's regulations and instructions, obtain facilitations and cooperation from the Ministry of Labor.
During a separate meeting with the Korean envoy, Qatamin and Lee discussed ways of boosting Jordanian-Korean cooperation, namely offering training to Jordanian youth in the field of information technology and digital economy, in addition to the exchange of expertise between the two countries.
Qatamin underscored the importance of increasing Korean investments in Jordan and facilitating investment opportunities for Jordanians in Korea in various sectors, noting that the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic obligated countries around the world to develop mechanisms to support youth, train them and equip them with new tech skills.
During the meeting, Qatamin pointed out that the Jordanian-Korean relations have witnessed a tangible development in recent years, which had positive effects on various sectors, calling for continued coordination on issues of mutual concern.
The Korean ambassador lauded bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields, stressing that the embassy's commitment to boosting bilateral relations, supporting training programs for Jordanian youth, and enabling them to enter the labor market.
