Unofficial results of Jordan’s 19th parliamentary elections began to trickle in Wednesday from the southern governorates of Tafileh, Ma’an and Aqaba.
In the 4-seat Tafileh constituency, Muhammad Ahmad Mrayat came first with 2,251 votes, followed by Osama Qawabah, Abdullah Awad, Muhammad Ismail Saudi, who secured 2159, 3387, 3186 votes respectively.
Also, Islam Tabashat won a women quota seat after she collected 1,926 votes, according to the results announced by president of the southern region’s election committee, Judge Muhammad Ajarmeh.
In Ma’an, Mahmoud Farajat came first with 4,873 votes followed by Tayseer Kreishan, Muhammad Hilalat and Shadi Freij, who collected 4,505, 4,004, and 3,357 votes respectively.
Aisha Hasanat stanched a women quota seat after she won 3,336 votes.
Further south in the Red Sea port of Aqaba, Obeid Yaseen, Hassan Ryati and Hazim Majali collected the governorate’s 3 seats. Also in Aqaba, Roa’h Gharabli won a women quota seat.
Hazim Majali is the only candidate who managed to retain his seat in the 19th parliament.
