Voting in parliamentary elections hit a peak at midday with 128,294 ballots cast between 11am and 12 noon, according to Independent Election Commission spokesman Jihad Momani.
He said in a press briefing that 134,607 voters of the age group 17-30 have cast ballots, a record in the Kingdom, noting that the number of first-time voters is about 577,000.
Momani also said that final election results will be in on Wednesday afternoon at the latest.
He said all reports from the field pointed to a smooth vote "except for some observations which were addressed on the spot", denying media reports that some polling centres had halted voting and vowing to refer those outlets to the cyber crimes unit.
Momani also said that the electoral commission will clarify its position on observations raised by some election monitors, adding that other notes were being considered.
He said that a special committee had investigated videos on corrupt money and vote-buying and found out that most of these clips were old, and some were referred to security bodies and the general prosecutor. He also said another 4 cases were passed on to the prosecution.
