Northern Military Zone officers, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department, Monday evening foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from Syria into the Kingdom, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) source said on Tuesday.
The army unit applied the rules of engagement followed in such cases, which led to the injury of one of the smugglers as they were escaping back into the Syrian territory, the source added.
"After searching the area, a large quantity of drug pills was seized and transferred to the concerned authorities" the source further said.
The source stressed that the JAF would firmly deal with any infiltration or smuggling attempt in order to protect the Kingdom's borders.
