Justice Minister receives US envoy

Minister of Justice, Bassam Talhouni, on Monday met with US ambassador to Jordan, Henry Wooster, for a discussion on joint cooperation in legal fields and ways to activate them in a way that serves justice.

During the meeting, Talhouni lauded the deep-rooted ties between the two countries at various levels, stressing the importance of continuing joint cooperation and providing support to enhance the human rights ecosystem and the justice sector.

Talhouni expressing Jordan's appreciation for the continued US support in the field of the judiciary development, specifically in the field of supporting the rule of law and enhancing the human rights ecosystem.

The Justice Minister and the US envoy discussed the importance of continuing with the USAID project to support the Ministry of Justice and the Judicial Council. Both officials also discussed the importance of the amendments made to the draft law amending the Law to Prevent Human Trafficking.

For his part, the US ambassador commended the Jordanian judiciary advanced level and the cooperation between judicial officials in common cases, expressing his hope to increase legal cooperation and maintain coordination between the two countries in various fields.
