Ammon News - The Independent Election Commission (IEC), in cooperation with the relevant gov't departments, has launched a campaign to remove the violating electoral signs scattered on the walls of schools, deemed legally as polling and vote counting centers.
The campaigns also covers damaged electioneering signs on the main roads and streets, causing a traffic choking, and which have fallen as a result of weather conditions currently affecting the Kingdom, added the IEC.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the IEC's media spokesperson, Jihad Momani, said the campaign is carried out in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and municipal councils, in coordination with the IEC's field committees.
Calling on all the parliamentary candidates to ensure their electoral signs are properly placed, given the prevailing weather conditions, he noted the candidates, or the electoral lists, will pay the costs, drawn from their insurance accounts deposited at the GAM and the municipalities nationwide.
