Ammon News - Jordan on Thursday will remain under the impact of a wet and cold air mass accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus, so it will be relatively cold and partly cloudy with scattered rain countrywide, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said.
The rainfall is forecast to be heavy at times and can trigger flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, with southwesterly moderate winds that occasionally turn brisk and blow dust in the Badia regions, the JMD forecast said.
The department warned of slippery roads in the areas experiencing rain, floods formation in valleys and lowlands, as well as poor visibility due to fog and dust, particularly in the highlands and the Badia regions.
On Friday, similar relatively cold and partly cloudy weather conditions will persist with a chance of light spotty showers in the northern and central parts of the country, and westerly moderate winds, the JMD predicted.
Mercury levels will rise few degrees on Saturday, bringing moderate conditions nationwide, with clouds at various altitudes and light showers, while winds will be southeasterly moderate, the weather department further said.
Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 18 degrees Celsius in Amman, 13 in the northern cities and 15 in the southern highlands, dropping down at night to 11, 8 and 7C respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 26 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 18 degrees at night.
