Ammonnews - COVID-19 killed 62 people in Jordan within the last 24 hours as the death toll stands at 1,029, and 4,658 cases were recorded on Wednesday, pushing the caseload to more than 91,234, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
In its daily briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic, the MoH said that 2,274 cases were recorded in Amman, 670 in Irbid, 528 in Zarqa, 444 in Balqa, 213 in Mafraq, 136 in Maan, 131 in Aqaba, 99 in Madaba, 89 in Ajloun, 47 in Tafilah, 23 in Karak and 4 in Jerash.
A total of 247 patients were admitted to hospitals, as the total number of cases in hospitals surpasses 1,600, while 195 people had recovered and were discharged.
In its effort to combat the spread of the disease, the epidemiological tracing teams conducted some 20,737 COVID-19 tests today, as the tally surpasses 1.95 million, the MoH added.
Amid the vertiginous rise in the number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the "Aman" and "Sihtak" apps.
