Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - COVID-19 killed 29 people in the Kingdom within the last 24 hours as the death toll from the respiratory disease stands at 443.
Some 2,648 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Monday, bringing the caseload to more than 43,360, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
Braking down the cases, the MoH said that 1,578 were recorded in Amman, 330 in Zarqa, 230 in Irbid, 139 in Balqa, 109 in Karak, 104 in Jerash, 58 in Madaba, 36 in Aqaba, 28 in Maan, 24 in Ajloun, 18 in Mafraq and 2 in Tafilah. Two non-domestic cases were also recorded.
Only 97 people suffering from COVID-19 were admitted to hospitals today as the total number tops 1,078 while the majority of those who have contracted the highly contagious virus are home isolating.
In their effort to stem the spread of the novel virus, the epidemiological tracing teams conducted 24,480 tests on Wednesday, pushing the total to 1.64 million. Also, 100 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals, the MoH highlighted.
Amid a rising number of cases, the MoH urged people to abide by health measures, wearing masks and gloves, and to commit to defense orders that prohibit holding gatherings of more than 20 people, highlighting the importance of downloading the "Aman" and "Sihtak" apps.
