Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A man was Monday caught red-handed stealing water from the Disi pipeline after he managed to break into a main valve chamber in the southern desert region of Jafer, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said.

The attack on the strategic water conveyance pipeline, which supplies the Kingdom with about 50 per cent of its needs, was detected live by a drone operated by the ministry in coordination with the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) and the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), the ministry added in a statement.

The attack targeted a valve chamber in a desert region some 15 kilometers from a fixed control station, the ministry explained, indicating that the man managed to open the valve and pump water but before he started filling his tanker truck, security forces arrived at the site and arrested him.
