1,199 COVID-19 infections, 9 deaths recorded Wednesday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A total of 1,199 new coronavirus cases and 9 deaths were recorded on Wednesday across the Kingdom, according to a joint daily brief by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The majority of today’s cases were registered in the capital which accounted for 870 infections, the statement said.

Breaking down today’s tally, the statement indicated that 151 were recorded in Zarqa, Balqa (37), Ajloun (1), Karak (28), Jerash (7), Aqaba (25), Mafraq (4), Irbid (81), Madaba (3), Tafileh (1) and 18 cases in Ma’an.

An additional 9 cases recorded for recent arrivals to the Kingdom.

The caseload has now reached 20,200 while the death stood at 131 since the outbreak began in March, the statement indicated.

On a more positive note, 189 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals today.

With regard to testing, the figures reveal that 20,507 tests were conducted on Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,351,112 since the crisis began.
