Jordan reports 1,824 COVID-19 infections, 9 fatalities

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A total of 1,824 COVID-19 cases were recorded in Jordan on Monday, pushing the caseload in the Kingdom to more than 17,464, according to a statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Amman saw the highest number of cases as at least 1,188 tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 24 hours followed by Zarqa with 125, 119 cases were recorded in Ajloun, 89 in Irbid, 70 in Jerash, 65 in Madaba, 65 in Balqa, 53 in Karak, 21 in Aqaba, 11 in Mafraq, 11 in Tafilah and 6 in Maan. A truck driver who had come from Saudi Arabia tested positive at the Al Omari crossing border.

Nine people succumbed to the lung disease that is caused by a coronavirus as the death toll stands now at 110.

Fifty-two people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, the statement added, highlighting that 20,034 tests were conducted as the total now amounts to 1,311,436 since the start of the pandemic in the Kingdom.

Amid the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the MoH urged the people to abide by the defense orders and to commit to safety measures, warning against holding gatherings of more than 20 people. It reiterated the importance of downloading and activating the "Aman" and "Sehtak" apps, and wearing masks.
