Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Azerbaijani Ambassador in Amman Rasim Rzayev on Monday commended Jordan’s efforts to establish peace and security in the region and the world and noted the Kingdom's recent call on Azerbaijan and Armenia to cease hostilities and resolve their conflict peacefully.
Highlighting the recent developments in his country’s ongoing conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh, Rzayev told reporters that his country "seeks to resolve the conflict with Armenia peacefully and calls for peace and tolerance".
The ambassador said his country was fending off an attack mounted by Armenia last week, in which civilians and servicemen were killed, adding that the Azeri army "exercised the right to self-defense while observing international law".
Rzayev said Azerbaijan demands a "full withdrawal from occupied Azeri territory".
Responding to reporters, the ambassador denied that foreign fighters or mercenaries or volunteers were fighting alongside the Azeri army.
He said Turkey "is a stabilizing factor in the region, a sister country and any ally who supports Azerbaijan morally".
