Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said the intention is to impose a full curfew on Friday August 28, in Amman and Zarqa, and in governorates where coronavirus (Covid-19) cases are being recorded in a worrisome and accelerating manner.

Adaileh also announced a set of immediate and urgent decisions, including suspending mass on Sunday in the churches of Amman and Zarqa Governorates, as a precaution to protect worshipers.

Administrative governors were instructed in the rest of governorates to tighten precautionary measures, such as sterilization, wearing masks, and adhering to distancing in all churches of the Kingdom, while intensifying Covid-19 tests at the Al-Ashrafieh area, specifically in the Armenian neighborhood, where a number of coronavirus infections were reported, Adaileh said in a media briefing at the prime ministry on Saturday evening.

Curfew hours will also be extended in all governorates of the Kingdom, starting next Tuesday, as the they will starts at 10pm for facilities, and 11pm for citizens, until 6am, Adaileh noted.

With regard to the Ar-Ramtha city, Adaileh announced that the isolation of the city will be lifted as of Tuesday August 25, and curfew hours, in force in the rest of the governorates, will be resumed, provided that the epidemiological situation continues at the same level of the current stability in Ar-Ramtha.

The minister reiterated that the matrix of opening sectors and dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, which was developed on a national level in June, which requires a return to a more dangerous stage, in light of the accumulated infections recorded throughout the week, is being updated at the governorate, districts and cities levels, as there is no intention to re-impose a full curfew at the level of the Kingdom, given its negative social and economic impacts, "and the improvement in our ability to adapt to the pandemic."

He stressed that there will be no transition to the "medium risk" level at this stage, but rather isolation and curfew measures will be imposed at the level of hot spots only.

The epidemiological situation at the national and governorate levels and in a number of hot spots were also highlighted in a meeting held between key stakeholders at the Prime Ministry, Adaileh noted.

The meeting identified another set of precautionary measures that are intended to be implemented by the end of this week, in case the epidemiological situation continues in the same alarming way "that we are witnessing", Adaileh added.
