Justice minister :Procedures to audit tax funds' collection made in accordance with the law

14-06-2020 04:59 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Justice, Bassam Talhouni, said the Director General of Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) has the right to provide its employees with a search warrant to enter businesses and properties to verify the tax funds, specified according to the law, are paid.

Speaking during a press conference held at the Prime Ministry with the Ministers of Finance, Media and Health on Sunday, he said the sales

and income tax entities are being bolstered, noting the field tax operations are handled with justice and transparency away from abuse of power.

Continuing" " Any irregularities in this regard, or in the event of a breach of rules in place, the law has the final say."

In accordance with the law, he said the judicial and legal seizure operations begin as a result of cumulative analytical information available to the ISTD.

Access to the target business website or the property specified for verification and audit is also within reach of the ISTD workers, he noted.

To ensure tax operations' transparency, he noted the procedures are carried out according to the law and begin with a memo authorizing the department's inspection staff, escorted by a security force that does not intervene unless there is a necessity.

In this context, surveillance cameras documenting the raid operations are installed to prevent the violation on part of the tax personnel, he pointed out.

If the ISTD staff enter any business or property, they should present the inspection memorandum, and record a clear record of the minutes in which all procedures are recorded, to be used as evidence in any future judicial process, he noted.

As per the law, any person nabbed in any tax-related charge has the right to object at courts, he said.
