Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government reaffirmed Wednesday its decision to impose a nation-wide blanket curfew on Friday, prohibiting the movement of the majority of people, Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh told journalists.
The decision excludes, Adaileh added, medical staff working in both the private and public sectors, the epidemiological tracing teams and a limited number of authorized officials and employees whose work nature requires so.
On movement in the month of Ramadan, he declared that movement will be allowed from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, to make it easier for people to get the supplies and items they need, noting that only those authorized will be allowed out during the lockdown hours .
On governorates that have seen the easing of curfew restrictions, he lauded the people of the southern city of Aqaba, the first city to witness the easing of restrictions, for their adherence to the safety measures, stressing the importance of maintaining the same level of commitment for later stages.
Easing curfew restrictions in the southern governorates, which has been announced earlier, will soon be subject to reassessment, and the government will determine, based on the people's commitment, whether to proceed with its decision or to re-impose the curfew.
He urged enterprises authorized to work and provide services to abide by the safety and precautionary measures, and make it mandatory for its employees and clients to wear masks and gloves, as well as to keep the safe social distance, as clients who fail follow the safety procedures will not be offered services.
He warned against not adhering to the measures, as enterprises that fail to follow them will have their permits revoked by the concerned authorities.
His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized, in a National Policies Council meeting His Majesty chaired today, on the importance of pooling effort to overcome this challenge through running more tests for COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Moreover, He said that those who had obtained movement permits through Stayhome.jo reached 180,000 as of Tuesday, 100,000 of which had been issued for logistical purposes, 50,000 for health and humanitarian reasons and 30,000 for factory and enterprises workers.
Adaileh also addressed the issue of Jordanians stranded abroad and wishing to return home, saying that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has collected data on Jordanians who applied to return home, and will start organizing trips for them in the near future.
