Restaurants to provide takeout, delivery services, provided meeting standards

13-04-2020 02:39 PM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Tourism Minister, Majd Shweikeh, said authorized restaurants will be allowed to provide home delivery or takeout services, provided that they apply terms and conditions of the procedures and standards guide for restaurants of all categories, which was approved by the Epidemiology Committee.

During a press briefing in the Prime Ministry on Monday, Shweikeh said several conditions have been adopted to allow all restaurants to provide their services via delivery or pick up, after consulting with the ministries of Local Administration, Industry and Trade, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the Epidemiology Committee.

Under the conditions workers in the food service supply chain must undergo coronavirus testing, adhere to the terms of sterilization, protection and occupational safety, and determine the number of workers allowed to
work within a facility from 20-30 percent of the original number.

She added that pre-inspection is one of the conditions for qualifying restaurants to ensure the availability of health and safety procedures by the Ministry of Tourism and the concerned authorities, specifying service times from 10am until 6pm, determining only the e-payment mechanism, and providing cooked meals at high levels only.

Shweikeh noted that the Tourism Ministry launched the www.delivery.mota.jo platform, to receive requests from tourist restaurants that wish to provide delivery and pick up services, according to the conditions and procedures in the manual of guidelines and procedures for safety and health protection measures used to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

She indicated that the guide organizes all elements of the service supply chain and safety procedures until they reach the consumer, in order to preserve the safety of citizens, stressing that the guide allows all
restaurants in the Kingdom that meet the requirements and procedures to provide food delivery service to homes, provided that the licensing authority grants its approval.

Shweikeh explained that the process of ordering food from restaurants that the competent authority agrees to their requests to serve, will be through restaurant’s smart applications, or through direct phone calls, or directly picking up food on foot when ready only.
