Police uncover various thefts, nab 5 in Amman

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Criminal Investigation Police have arrested five people who were involved in thefts of homes, vehicles and stores in Amman in the past few days, after a series of investigations and collecting information that led to pinpointing their locations.

The Public Security Department's media spokesperson said on Monday that among those arrested were one who had a criminal record of stealing shops and three vehicles, a second who stole a vehicle in the East Amman neighbourhood of Sahab while the rest were involved in the burglary of houses and shops in East Amman. All of the suspects will be referred to the judicial authorities, he said.

The spokesman said that the Criminal Investigation Department has intensified security at markets and shops and sent additional patrols to various commercial stores as well as its monitoring of people with criminal records "to stop those who try to use the current conditions to pursue their crimes."
