PM: We are confident in Jordan's ability to overcome current crisis

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz voiced his confident in Jordan's ability in overcoming the current crisis that stemmed from the novel coronavirus, by cooperation among all stakeholders in various sectors.

Speaking to Jordan TV's "60 Minutes" program via Skype, Razzaz said that a huge efforts are implementing on the ground by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, the security bodies, and the medical cadres, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Commenting on the pandemic impacts on the national economy, the prime minister clarified that Jordan is a part of the world, but the economy if compared to others is a resilient one.

There are ten teams affiliated to the government that working to sustain the workflow in the pivotal sectors, adding that the focus now is to protect our economy in the short and medium term.

Razzaz noted to the measures recently taken by the Central Bank of Jordan which allocated a JD500 million Finance Facilitation Program to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the guarantee of the Jordan Loan Guarantee Corporation (JLGC).

Commenting on the resignation of the agriculture minister, Razzaz stressed that the paper-based mobility permits were made to sustain the work in vital sectors, but the process was marred by a type of error and forgery, adding that the minister has taken the moral responsibility and resigned.

The permits issue, Razzaz noted, was referred to the Prosecutor General, and the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.
