25-03-2020 07:02 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Wednesday urged the public to observe health safety and precautionary measures in the first day after the government allowed small shops and minimarkets to open following a 4-day nationwide curfew imposed to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a voice message, the prime minister said only those between 16 and 60 are allowed to head to markets in their neighborhoods to buy basic commodities, stressing that the use of vehicles is not allowed at this stage.

He said shops and minimarkets are allowed to remain open from 10:00AM to 06:00PM, urging the citizens not to crowd and keep a safe distance from others to avoid unnecessary contact. Razzaz assured that the Kingdom's strategic supply of staples and foodstuffs is sufficient and there is no need for panic-buying.

According to the prime minister, supermarkets will be allowed to open as of Thursday and will offer their services via delivery companies. However, Razzaz warned that shops and markets that fail to abide by the set health measures will be closed.
