Health Minister announces 13 new cases of COVID-19

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, Saturday, confirmed 13 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Jordan, all of which were reported today, bringing the number of cases to 112, including the one that had recovered.

Jaber stated in a joint press briefing with the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, that the 15 cases are distributed as follows:
Five cases from a wedding in Irbid, one case has been in quarantine in a hotel in Amman after it had tested positive for the virus, three cases contracted the virus in quarantine as a result of contact with a person who came from abroad. In addition, an Iraqi family of five, which had come from abroad, also tested positive after the father transmitted the virus to his family members.

Among other cases that were reported is a man who had been in contact with his brother, who in turn had come from Spain. Another case was reported in the University of Jordan, in addition to a case that its source is being traced. A case from the Jordanian Royal Medical Services who had come from abroad was also confirmed.

Overall cases comprise: 78 Jordanians, including the one who had recovered, 21 Arab and foreign nationals, six of whom are Iraqis, six French, three Lebanese, three English, two from the Philippines and one from Argentina.

Jaber stressed that the numbers aren't high, however it is a dangerous indicator that "a few of us did not adhere to public health instructions and were reckless, which may lead to an increase in the numbers, as well as robbing us all of our freedom by force while we were looking at safety from to this disease."

He urged the people to abide by the government's instructions, and stressed the importance of avoiding physical contact, saying, "As you see His Excellency the Minister is away from me at least one meter, and you should not approach anyone if you're outside home, and every person should be treated as if they were infected in order to protect your children and loved ones, and for the country that is dear to all of our hearts."
