19-03-2020 07:27 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Cold and partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions are expected to continue on Thursday with scattered showers in various parts of the Kingdom, mainly the northern and central areas, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

On Friday, the Kingdom will be affected by a polar front accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus, pushing thermometers down and bringing chilly and cloudy conditions with rainfall that may turn heavy, with thunder storms and hail in some areas, and causing floods in valleys and low lands, the JMD said.

Snow showers are also expected in the late night hours over the highlands, the department added.

The country will remain under the impact of the polar front on Saturday, with heavy downpours accompanied by thunder and hail in some regions, making floods in valleys and low-lying areas.

Snow fall is also forecast over the highlands, mainly the southern mountains of Al- Shara, the JMD predicted.

Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 10 degrees Celsius in Amman, and 7 in the northern and southern cities, dropping down to 4, 3 and 1 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 22 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 12, the JMD explained.
