Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Health Ministry said the number of coronavirus suspected cases currently in quarantine, and had arrived in Jordan from areas where the novel coronavirus is spreading, reached 80 cases.
The total number of cases that entered the quarantine and then left after spending 14 days and was proven that they were not infected with the virus, amounted to 221 cases, the ministry said in its daily briefing about dealing with the virus in Jordan.
There was no new infection with the virus so far, with the exception of one previously announced, the ministry added, indicating that the person is in good health and receiving treatment until he is fully recovered and leaves the hospital.
The ministry said work is underway to prepare a new quarantine site, to be added to the approved sites: the Epidemiology Hospital - Al Bashir Hospitals, and a hotel in Amman that has been rented by the Health Ministry to be a site dedicated to the quarantine.
The Ministry reaffirmed some of the procedures related to travel, by advising citizens to avoid travel except for the most urgent need, in light of the accelerated spread of the novel coronavirus in many countries around the world.
It also mentioned countries from which non-Jordanians are currently denied entry, and Jordanians coming from them are transferred to quarantine, which are China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy.
The Ministry advised citizens coming from some countries where there are a large number of COVID-19 infections, such as Iraq, Egypt, France, Spain and Germany, to do a self-quarantine and stay in their homes for a period of two weeks, and contact the health authorities if symptoms appear to in order to take necessary measures.
The Ministry pointed out to decisions taken by the Cabinet to reduce the possibility of the disease entering and spreading to the Kingdom, including, preventing external leaves for foreign workers, stopping work permits for immigrants from abroad, and preventing leave for foreign students studying in the Kingdom who go to countries where the disease is spreading, in addition to stopping outside school trips, and the suspension of staff travel abroad except for the extreme necessity and with the approval of the Cabinet.
The ministry reminded with the newly launched medical advisory and awareness service about the novel coronavirus, through the toll-free number 111.
It also indicated the approved hospitals to examine and isolate suspected cases, which are Al-Bashir Hospitals, the University of Jordan, the new Zarqa Public, the King Abdullah Founder Hospital, the Karak Public, Prince Hashem Military Hospital.
