Prince Charles, Duchess of Cornwall visit to Jordan important, says UK Ambassador

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - British Ambassador to Amman Edward Oakden stressed the importance of the visit of Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and the Duchess of Cornwall to Jordan on March 21- 25, during which they will hold talks and visit vital sectors.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Oakden said the visit confirms the "strong" relationship between the two countries' royal families and the "historic" ties between the two kingdoms in various fields.

The Prince of Wales's visit comes by the recommendation of the British government, the envoy stressed, pointing out the visit will focus on youth, where the Prince and the Duchess are scheduled to visit several organizations on honing the skills of youth and supporting refugees due to Jordan's continued hosting a large number of them.

He continued saying "the Duchess of Cornwall, during her visit, will take a first-hand look on efforts made to empower women, where she will meet women who working to develop peoples' skills by building businesses and creating jobs."

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are eager to learn more about the warmth and generosity of the Jordanian people, and visiting cultural, natural and religious cities throughout the Kingdom, to shed light on Jordan as an important tourist center, the ambassador added.

"The visit program includes a visit to a religious site in Jordan" he further said, adding several discussions will be held with a number of representatives of different religious communities in Jordan, to highlight the diversity witnessed by Jordanian society as a regional model in terms of tolerance and religious coexistence.
