Adayleh holds press briefing on Cabinet's key decisions

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Cabinet on Sunday decided to increase to 4367 the number of grants and loans provided via the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the academic year 2020/2019, at an additional cost up to JD6.5 million.

In a press briefing at the Prime Ministry, Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adayleh, said the total number of students benefiting from grants and loans has reached 39,624, with a total cost of JD59.5 million, adding the average estimated cost for the beneficiary is JD1500 covering 45 credit hours.

The Council of Ministers also decided to increase salaries of workers at the Da`wah Fund, and under Article 305 of the Awqaf Ministry in two preaching jobs and mosque servants by JD25, similar to the salary hikes of workers in the public and private sectors, Adayleh added, noting the number of beneficiaries is 1107 Awqaf workers, which contributes to improving their living standard.

On the other Cabinet decisions, Adayleh said the government approved the 2020 law of direct purchase of real estate or its exchange from entities that are permitted to own property, and also approved the 2020 system amending the buildings and regulation law in the city of Amman.

In the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, the Cabinet was briefed by the Awqaf Minister on the ministry's works, key challenges, and future plans, Adayleh noted.

On the other hand, the State Minister welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, who is in the Kingdom today at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Continuing:"We hope this visit will constitute a support for the joint Arab effort and the Arab cooperation march, in addition to enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries and developing them in various fields."

Concluding the presser, Adayleh said the government counts on citizens' awareness in dealing with rumors and fake information that are being propagated from time to time, the most recent of which was about "selling lands of Petra city."

The minister underlined the importance of media outlets in dealing with fake rumors and clarifying facts to citizens, adding: "We are counting on media outlets, which are our partners in refuting such statements, and our doors are open to their inquiries."

The government, he said, will not withhold any information related to citizens, institutions or government departments.
