Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razaz on Saturday directed the Ministry of Local Administration, Greater Amman Municipality and the Land and Survey Department to take prompt action to launch free popular markets at sites designated by these entities.
The premier addressed the three entities to immediately put in place infrastructure services at the sites to proceed with the popular markets that will address the phenomenon of random stalls and street vendors within the boundaries of the Amman Municipality and the municipalities.
"The measure is to curb the phenomenon of random stalls and street vendors in these areas that have a negative impact on traffic and the urban sector, through the establishment of popular markets or makeshift open markets that house these stalls," he said.
The prime minister directed that stalls in these markets be fairly distributed to applicants, and asked the three entities to report to him fortnightly on the progress of work.
Razzaz had ordered weeks ago that popular markets be set up, and offered land of the treasury in case municipal land is not available for that purpose.
