Right to play organises charity walk to promote children’s right to play

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS— In efforts to raise awareness for children's basic right to play and better health, “Right To Play" is organizing a three-kilometer Walkathon on Friday October 2nd at 8:30am which will start at Hussein Sports City ( Gate II) and will conclude at Prince Hamzah Hall.
The announcement came in a press conference held on Tuesday at the Crown Plaza hotel.
The press conference was attended by the Manager of Activities at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Mohammed Othman; and by Deputy Secretary for Sports, Culture and Social Affairs at the Greater Amman Municipality, Haitham Jinayat. It was also attended by Mohammed Shabaneh, Director of Family Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Hussein Jbour Director of Youth Affairs at the Higher Council for Youth, Lina Arafat, Director of US-Middle East Partnership Initiative and a representative from Jordan Olympic Committee and the prime sponsor company, and Mohannad Al Turk, General Manager of Coca Cola.

The press conference was attended by key sports figures including popular Basketball player, Ayman Duais. Given its importance, the event is expected to draw a large number of participants from public and private schools, UNRWA schools, Ministry of Social Development social centers in addition to athletes, families and corporations
On his part, the Director of Business Development at the Right To Play headquarters, Samer Kamal, welcomed guests and media and briefed them on the Right To Play Charity Walk, its route and safety.
He commended the partnership of Right To Play with Jordanian Government institutions and private institutions who shared the enthusiasm to ensure success of this event.
Kamal also praised to the national sense of social responsibility under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II and expressed sincere gratitude for all those who played a key role in supporting this big event.
Kamal noted that “this event serves a great cause.. through sport and play, we will be able to a healthier and safer world”. He urged all to participate and spread the word.
On the other hand, the Projects Director of Right To Play Jordan, Lamis Shishani, gave a brief about Jordan Programmes currently underway and explained the philosophy behind RTP’s “take care of yourself, take care of others” slogan.
She also explained the principles which Right To Play programs are built around, focusing on elements like leadership, respect, courage, integration and team play all within the context of our culture and traditions.
Meanwhile, Basketball player star Ayman Duais shared his enthusiasm towards this events and urged fellow athletes, friends and families to take part in Right To Play Charity Walk.
And invited all those who believe in children’s right to play to take this walk and spread the awareness.

The event is sponsored by the US-Middle East Partnership Initiative, Greater Amman Municipality, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Culture, Higher Council for Youth and Jordan Olympic Committee.
It is also sponsored by Coca-Cola Company and the Crown Plaza Hotels, Sawt Al Ghad and Al-Ghad newspaper.
All proceeds from this Walkathon will go towards Right To Play’s programs that benefit children around the world.
