Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A slight rise in temperatures is forecast on Wednesday, but chilly and partly cloudy weather prevails with a chance of rain showers in some parts of the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily report.
The JMD warned of slippery roads, poor visibility due to fog formation in the mountainous areas, and freeze formation in the late night hours over the highlands and the Badia regions.
The country will be affected by a new depression on Thursday, bringing rainfall in the northern and central areas that may turn heavy after midnight, extending to the southern regions, the JMD further said.
The impact of the polar front will continue on Friday with heavy downpours, mainly in the western parts, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail at times, causing flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, the JMD added .
Snow fall is also expected in the early morning hours on high southern mountains, the department predicted, expecting freeze formation at night, while winds will be northwesterly to brisk with strong gusts at times.
Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach 9 degrees Celsius, and 5 in the northern cities, dropping down at night to 3 and -1 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 19 degrees and lows standing at 10 at night, the JMD added.
