Heavy rainfall forecast today, polar front tomorrow

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Temperatures will slightly on Monday, bringing chilly and cloudy weather conditions nationwide, with heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, mainly in the northern and central regions, according to a Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) statement.

The statement warned of slippery roads, flash floods in low-lying areas, and poor visibility due to fog formation in mountainous areas.

On Tuesday, the Kingdom will be affected by a very cold air mass of polar origin, leading to a significant in temperatures and bringing heavy downpours, thunderstorms and hail in some areas, the JMD added.

As of the early morning hours of tomorrow, snow is expected to fall on areas 1000m above sea level and higher. By nightfall, chances of snow will drop, but temperatures will freeze and ice will be formed.

A slight rise in temperatures is forecast on Wednesday, but the weather will remain cold and partly cloudy with a chance for light showers during the day in the southwestern parts of the Kingdom. Winds will be northwesterly moderate.

Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach 8 degrees Celsius, and 9 in the northern cities, dropping down at night to 4, while it will reach a high of 5 and a low of 1 in the southern governorates. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 18 degrees and lows standing at 14 at night, the JMD said .
