Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The cold front gripping the Kingdom is forecast to continue today as a further in temperatures is expected, bringing chilly, cloudy and rainy conditions nationwide, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
The downpours are expected to be heavy at times, accompanied by thunder and hail, and forming floods in valleys and low-lying areas, the JMD added.
Snowfall is also forecast over high mountain peaks, which may accumulate during the night hours over southern mountainous heights, while winds will be westerly brisk, stirring dust in the Badia region.
The department warned of the dangers of slippery roads, floods as well as low visibility due to fog formation, low-altitude clouds and dust.
Daytime temperatures expected for today will reach 6 degrees Celsius in Amman and 9 in the northern governorates dropping down to 4 degrees, while it will reach a high of 11 degrees Celsius and a low 1 in the southern cities. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 17 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 11 degrees.
Similar weather conditions will prevail on Friday, with heavy rain and snowflakes, especially in the early morning. By the evening, weather will gradually stabilize and the chance of rain will decrease, with northwesterly moderate winds that may pick up at times.
