Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Kingdom will be affected on Wednesday by a depression centered over south of Cyprus. Therefore, a tangible in temperatures is expected, bringing chilly and cloudy weather with rainfall in the northern regions, extending to the central parts of the country.
By the night hours of Wednesday, the cold air mass will deepen and the rainfall will extend to the rest of the country, with heavy downpours at times that are accompanied by thunder and hail, causing flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).
Light snow is also expected on high mountain peaks with westerly strong winds with speeds exceeding around 70 kilometers per hour, blowing dust in the Badia, the JMD added in daily brief.
The department warned of low visibility due to fog formation and dust, mainly in the highlands and Badia regions, slippery roads in rainy areas, and strong winds in addition to flood formation in the valleys and low-lying areas.
Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman will reach a high of 7 degrees Celsius, 8 in the northern areas and 11 in the southern governorates, dropping down at night to 4, 3 and zero respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 18 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 11 degrees at night.
The polar front will continue to affect the Kingdom on Thursday and Friday with heavy downpours that may form flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, the JMD said.
Snow showers is also forecast on Thursday in the high mountain peaks with westerly strong winds blowing dust in the Badia, the department further added.
