Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Kingdom will remain under the impact of chilly and partly cloudy weather conditions today, while a depression accompanied by a cold air mass will move through the country during the early hours of the night, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
The depression, centered over Cyprus, will bring below-average temperatures and rain in the western regions, with snowfall in mountainous areas and southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD added.
The department warned of low visibility, caused by dust-laden winds in the southern and eastern regions, slippery roads in rainy areas, and freezing and frost formation in the highlands and Badia regions in the late night hours.
Daytime temperatures expected for today in all regions will reach a high of 12 degrees Celsius, dropping down at night to 3 in Amman, 4 in the northern cities and 1 in the southern. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 21 degrees Celsius and lows standing at 11 degrees at night.
On Wednesday, the effect of the depression will continue and temperatures will significantly dip, bringing very cold and partly cloudy weather conditions, with rain in the northern regions that will gradually extend to the central parts of the country.
By the night hours of Wednesday, the cold air mass will deepen and the rainfall will extend to the rest of the country, with heavy downpours at times that are accompanied by thunder and hail. Light snow is also expected on high mountain peaks with westerly strong winds blowing dust in the Badia.
Chilly and cloudy conditions will continue on Thursday and Friday, with heavy downpours that may form flash floods in the valleys and low-lying areas.
