153,000 Syrians return home from Jordan since mid-October

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Some 153,000 Syrians have left Jordan via the Jaber Border Crossing since its reopening in mid-October, among them were about 33,000 registered refugees, according to the Interior Ministry's Syrian Refugees Affairs Department.

In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to the voluntary repatriation of Syrian refugees and to facilitate measures for leaving the Kingdom.

It reiterated Jordan's pledge to treat the refugees in line with relevant international laws and conventions, and to provide all the basic services they need after setting foot to Jordan, noting that humanitarian and operational decisions had been taken to arrange their entry and residence and promptly answer to their needs.

A recent United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) survey showed that 75.2 per cent of Syrian refugees in regional countries are willing to voluntarily return to their country.
