Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A preliminary proposal on the 2020-2023 Jordanian-German technical cooperation project has been approved, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said Tuesday.
The project is set to develop the mechanisms of managing and protecting groundwater wells, as well as the strategies for optimal use of wells sources. It will also work on monitoring the quality of groundwater and raise community awareness.
A statement by the ministry's Secretary-General, Ali Sobh, said that the German Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) has submitted a detailed proposal to the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development on the project's implementation agreement and the joint work plan with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in Jordan.
The Jordanian official pointed out the importance of continuous cooperation between the Ministry and the German Institute, through which fruitful results have been achieved, especially in providing technical support and finding sustainable solutions for the water sector.
A workshop was held at the Water Ministry yesterday to present the results and recommendations of the evaluation of the Jordanian-German technical cooperation project, "Groundwater Resources Management" carried out by the BGR, to make sure it was handled in accordance with the standards of the Development Assistance Committee in terms of relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, sustainability and importance.
